IBA - Career Development Center organized Study Tour at Karachi Port Trust (KPT):
February 3rd, 2022: The IBA Career Development Centre organized a study tour to Karachi Port Trust for IBA students. The main objective of this excursion was to provide students knowledge of maritime sector, career prospects and how KPT works to uplift the economy of Pakistan.
Mr. Nader Mumtaz, Chairman - KPT & Brigadier Tariq Bashir, TI(M) – General Manager Administration – KPT, along with other General Managers oriented students about “Blue Economy” along with the functions of port and strategic planning to expand its operation. After the session, direct Q/A session with Chairman along with high officials of KPT held in which students discuss micro and macro level planning, operations, and projects to be initiated by Govt of Pakistan to increase international trade. To provide practical exposure, a visit was arranged towards Hutchinson Terminal (SAPT) & Pakistan International Terminal (PICT) where they met with the operational experts working in centralized control room and handling cargos using latest tools to manage the shipping traffic and along with the brief presentation by top management and networking opportunity.
The students found this visit highly knowledgeable & excellent learning opportunity because it provided them an exposure of maritime sectors along with its operations and a thorough knowledge of KPT activities to contribute towards uplifting the economy of Pakistan.
