Guest Speaker Session - Samar Naqvi

April 8, 2023, Ms. Kanwal Akhtar, faculty at IBA, recently invited Ms. Samar Naqvi, CEO of the Karachi Down Syndrome Program to speak to BBA students as a part of their Business Communication course. The session was titled, "A Leap of Faith," and was directed towards offering BBA students career advice and insight into unconventional career paths they can opt for to where their business degree can be put to use.

Ms. Samar Naqvi shared her journey starting as a business student to holding a leadership role in a commendable Not for Profit Organisation such as KDSP. She also gave an overview of how the landscape has changed for the industry, raising a need for business graduates to join it as their career of choice.

She left the students with some key takeaways, to help them embark on successful careers in any industry or line of work:

- Creating a strong value system
- Staying true to their identity and USP

- Communicating with a passion for work and causes which speak to them
- Treating failures as learning phases
- Developing tribes and allies in their careers

The students found the session to be very insightful and engaging. Samar also answered their questions post the session.
