Guest Speaker Session
On November 24th, 2022: Career Development Center (CDC), IBA Karachi organized a guest speaker session on "Data Driven Decision Making for 11:11" by Mr. Abeer Khan, Head of Data Sciences at Daraz in collaboration with Mr. Atif Murtaza, lecturer, and Head of CDC at IBA for the courses of Retailing and Sales Management
Mr. Abeer shared his journey to Daraz and how it started as a fashion e-commerce platform and grew into a marketplace by sharing insights into E-commerce' user growth and mentioned that there is still potential penetration available in the e-com market.
He emphasized on four phases of life cycle of a startup: building an ecosystem, scaling and improving operations, targeting hypergrowth, and sustainability. Currently, Daraz is in sustainability phase and for any e-commerce platform, it is necessary to launch programs, offers and loans for sellers, as they are not just sellers, they are customers, he added.
Furthermore, Mr. Abeer educated students about strategic planning and customer relationship management KPIs. Throughout the session, he conveyed in-depth knowledge with students related to e-commerce and its operations and catered multiple questions from the students.
Later on, there was a tea talk with Abeer where students got an opportunity to ask frequent questions to get insights. The session was also made live through zoom.
