Corporate Connect Series | Guest Speaking Session
April 14, 2022: As part of its Corporate Connect Series, the IBA Career Development Center organized a guest speaking session in collaboration with Dr. Muhammad Kamran Mumtaz, Assistant Professor, for his class of 'Operations Management.' Ms. Amna Naeem, Head of Care Operations, Careem was invited as a guest speaker.
She initiated the session by providing a brief overview of the operational matters at Careem. She talked about multiple challenges being faced while recruiting captains. Some of the key challenges highlighted by her include understanding of the application by captains, customer complaint resolution while meeting unforeseen circumstances, and budget requirements. She emphasized that the tracking of captains is also a big challenge. Ms. Naeem presented a live example of how they resolve delayed and expensive deliveries.
She also focused on operational and business competition challenges where various aspects of business operations were discussed. She believed that the system development plays a pivotal role in any business. She mentioned that Careem's application shows you the peak hours, traffic conditions, and points where there are a larger number of customers seeking Careem's services. She kept the session interactive. Students found the session insightful and were glad that they were able to understand the business side of one of most used ride-hailing services in town.
