Corporate Connect Series | How to defy challenges in life and achieve one's aims
September 26, 2019: The CDC in collaboration with CED and Dr. Shahid Qureshi invited the CEO of SalamAir, Captain Mohamed Ahmed for a Corporate Connect Series session at the IBA Karachi main campus.
Born on a small island of Kingdom of Bahrain, Captain Mohamed always had one eye on the sea and the other on the sky as his dream was to become a pilot. He joined Oxford Air Training Academy in UK to become a pilot at the tender age of 18yr only. In 2003, he moved to UAE to start the first low-cost airline in the Middle East and North Africa.
In this session, Captain Mohamed talked about "How to defy challenges in life and achieve one's aims". He shared his exceptional and eye-watering success story when he was a flying pilot who faced an accident at the age of 32 and ended up losing his leg. Against all odds, he went on to become the first commercial captain who holds a valid commercial flying license with a disability. Not only that, today he stands as the CEO of a Middle Eastern Airline, Salam Air. Despite his impairment, he is an active athlete and enjoys playing sports with his sons.
His story inspired students and professionals to have an optimistic approach in life and never give up on their dreams. He expressed that life is full of lessons and we should focus on positive learnings in order to achieve happiness in life.
He concluded the session by adding, "Your employment is your temporary station. You must try exploring entrepreneurship."
