Memorable Career Excursion To Fatima Fertilizer Sadiqabad Plant
IBA's Career Development Center (CDC) aims to facilitate students in making dynamic career choices by providing them practical and evolving career experiences. We firmly believe that the goal of education is not limited to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for students to explore and discover, and to enlighten them who are capable of doing right things. We take pride in collaborating with the Fatima Fertilizer Company (FFC) Limited to execute our first ever Career Excursion to FFC Plant, Sadiqabad.
The MBA Graduating Classes of 2018 and 2019 were invited for a career and study trip to Fatima Group's state-of-the-art plant located in Sadiqabad. It was a fully sponsored visit as an extension to Fatima Group's Empower to Lead (E2L) Management Trainee Program.
25 students including 20% female population accompanied the CDC team from Karachi to Sadiqabad on May 1, 2018. The FFCL team warmly welcomed the students and guided them about the activity plan while reaching the site at night. All the students from the IBA were facilitated to stay at FFCL's Guest Houses located inside the premises. After scrumptious breakfast on May 2, 2018, the students were directed towards the MP Hall/Auditorium. FFCL Plant Manager, Mr. Rehman Hanif welcomed all the participants and provided a brief safety orientation. Mr. Syed Shahzad Mehdi, DDM Process Engineering shared a detailed presentation on FFC plant and facilities. An exciting tour of the plant facility comprising of visit to Learning & Development Centre, Learning Workshop, Warehouses, Labs and other chemical set ups were offered to the troop by their Engineering and Management personnel. The entire process of the development of the product from scratch was briefed to students during the tour.
The troop was then taken to the Fatima Fertilizers Welfare Trust Hospital (FFWTH). A stopover was made at the Company's managed School and Vocational Centre. A brief township ride which included Cricket Ground, Eco-friendly Park, Central Park, Management and Staff Resident Area, Club and Market were also presented in the premises as an enticing facilities for FFC's workforce. After the lunch, a meetup was arranged with FFC's Business Commercial Lead at MP Hall. Mr. Moazzam Nazir - Lead Finance FFL Site, Mr. Rana Akbar-Lead Internal Audit FFL Site, Mr. Sajid Arshad-Lead Supply Chain FFL Site, Mr. Ghanzfar Ansari-Lead IT Infrastructure FFL Site, Mr. Abdul Ghaffar-Sr. Engineer - Business Apps, Mr. Abu Saeed-Regional Sales Manager – RYK and Mr. Malik Muhammad Rehan-Lead Logistics FFL Site conducted informative session and highlighted various attributes of working at FFCL. After the session, students had a brief networking and tea session with the FFC Commercial Team.
After the tea, a friendly cricket match was played between the IBAians and FFCL team. Students thoroughly enjoyed the match and were geared up after a long busy day.
The IBA group was cordially invited for a Corporate Dinner hosted by FFCL team. On the occasion, Mr. Danish Imtiaz, Manager-CDC presented the IBA plaque to the host team and also thanked the FFCL Management for their hospitality and courtesy. Students also shared the similar views and also provided their feedback and learning from the whole tour. The IBA students and team departed from the FFCL plant, Sadiqabad in the morning on May 3, 2018. It was one of its own kind of an activity which not only augmented knowledge of the students but also offered an amazing learning exposure to all the visitors.
