Campus to Corporate – Career Orientation Sessions
The IBA Career Development Center (CDC) conducted career orientation sessions titled "From Campus to Corporate" for the 2019 graduating classes of BS-Social Sciences & Liberal Arts (BS-SSLA), BS-Computer Sciences (BSCS) and BS-Economics & Mathematics (BSEM) programs. These sessions were part of the Personal Effectiveness course which is now a credited component for all the undergrad curriculum at the IBA.
Mr. Danish Imtiaz, Manager IBA-CDC moderated these sessions as the learning facilitator. All academic programs were catered separately in order to make the learning module effective and customized as per the audience's needs. The sessions were aimed at orienting graduating students about some key aspects that they need to focus on before moving out to the corporate world. Self-assessment & evaluation, goal setting, difference between jobs and career, recruitment search tools & techniques, and career options & trends were some of the core themes discussed during these sessions. Students found these sessions interactive, thought-provoking and useful for their smooth transition to the corporate lives. Participants liked the goal setting exercise the most and enjoyed putting down their goals on paper. Some useful career tips were also discussed which helped individuals to improve themselves generally as well as to make them more attractive to the employers or live their lives as entrepreneurs. Employment trends of the previous batches were also shared with the participants to make them aware about the industry needs and to align their expectations accordingly. Participants' individual questions and queries were satisfied throughout the sessions.
These sessions have set the tone for the upcoming learning interventions which are more focused on Personality Assessment, CV writing and Interview Skills, Personal Branding & Selling, and Leadership themes. Most of them will be conducted by prominent corporate guest speakers.
